This is the art and science of modifying medications to meet the specific needs of an individual patient. Medications are compounded and dispensed to patients only upon receipt of a valid patient-specific prescription. It requires a relationship between the patient, physician and pharmacist. We all work together to provide an alternative treatment option when and if the currently available treatment options are not the best fit for you.
Not all pharmacies provide a compounding service. At Airville Pharmacy we pride ourselves with skilled and experienced compounding Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. Our Managing Pharmacist, Dr. Ugo Ben holds a Masters degree in Pharmaceutics/Pharmaceutical Technology and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Pharmacy with expertise in drug formulation from the prestigious Monash University, Melbourne Australia. He also has a certificate in compounding from the American college of Apothecaries (ACA). Our Lead Technician & Manager, Ms. Michelle Sacco is a graduate of Chemistry and holds a compounding certificate from the Professional Compounding Center of America (PCCA). We are trained in compounding a wide variety of syrups, gels, suppositories, creams, ointments, suspensions, capsules, etc.
Whether you want to add some flavor, change the color, dosage strength, alter the medication form, eliminate some additives you may be allergic to, or if there is a shortage of a commercial product, we can combine ancient medicinal art methods, the latest medical knowledge, state-of-art technology and well-equipped modern laboratory to create your customized prescription.
If you desire a dye-free, preservative-free, alcohol-free or sugar-free medication we can work with your physician to customize it for you.
